Worthington Steam Pump restoration commenced.
The pump was removed in 1975 from Leasowe Castle on the Wirral in the former Borough of Wallasey.
Leasowe Castle was formerly a shooting lodge owned by the Earls of Derby latterly a much extended building used as a hotel and a convalescent home and now has reverted to use as a hotel again.
The pump was installed to feed the boiler for a steam heated central heating system and had been used up until 1970.
After dismantling it was found to be severely corroded inside the water end of the pump due to have been left standing full of water for many years. We contacted The Milliput Company for advice and an account of the subsequent repair methods can be found here.
